CALGARY - The deadline to complete the recent government of Alberta on-line consultation surveys is fast approaching. Members have until November 29th to provide their input on the two key issues under review: energy efficiency standards in the Alberta Building Code and the Safety Codes Act Review.
CHBA - Calgary Region has prepared for its members a comprehensive review of the on-line survey regarding the potential inclusion of energy efficient requirements to the Alberta Building Code. The report will be sent to the Alberta government, representing a formal response by the association on this issue. To complete the survey, visit the Government of Alberta Municipal Affairs Web site.
The survey touches on a number of topics that have a direct impact on the residential construction industry, including; building inspections, enforcement standards and community planning.
Calgary Launches New Programs for Builders
Calgary Waste and Recycling Services have initiated a pilot project aimed at encouraging industry to recycle waste from construction, demolition and renovation activities. The program began on November 20th at the Spyhill Landfill site. Acceptable materials include non-treated wood, asphalt shingles, drywall, and cardboard; however, these materials must be separated as mixed loads will not be accepted.
