Nominations Now Open for 7th Annual Green Toronto Awards
TORONTO, Ont. — Nominations are now being accepted for the 2011 Green Toronto Awards, the City of Toronto's environmental awards of excellence, in search of Toronto’s champions of the environment. The City’s Live Green Toronto program, in partnership with Green Living Enterprises, invites residents to nominate local individuals, companies and organizations leading the way to a greener Toronto.
A winner in each of 10 categories will receive an award and $5,000 that they can use to further their work on the environment or donate to an environmental charity of their choice. Categories for nomination include:
Green Home: Open to a Toronto resident who is leading change by greening their home
Green Business: Open to a business that is demonstrating excellence in green practices, strategies and products
Local Food: Leadership in creating, managing and promoting local food
Community Projects: Any individual, community group, or not for profit organization who act to green our neighbourhoods
Energy Conservation: Systems and technologies that reduce and conserve energy
Environmental Awareness: Leadership in raising eco-awareness
Green Design: Leadership in innovative and sustainable green design and architecture, including eco-roofs
Leadership: Individual leadership that is transforming our environment
Water Efficiency: Leadership in managing and reducing water use
Youth Leadership: Toronto youth (18 and under) leading by example
The deadline for nominations is Monday, February 7 (midnight), 2011. Nominations may be submitted online at www.toronto.ca/greentorontoawards.
The Green Toronto Awards ceremony will take place on Friday, April 15 at 7pm on the Main Stage at the Green Living Show, Direct Energy Centre, Exhibition Place.
