BILD Commits $100,000 to George Brown College Construction Students

GREATER TORONTO — The Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) can appreciate a strong foundation - not just in residential construction but also when educating the industry’s future builders.
The Association has just committed to give $100,000 over the next 10 years to the George Brown College Centre for Construction and Engineering Technology, enhancing its contribution to an endowment fund that will provide dozens of student bursaries every year.
“BILD has educational partnerships with the University of Waterloo and Ryerson University, but more on the development and design side of the business. Partnering with George Brown College gives us a great opportunity to support the school that is focused on construction curriculum for future builders and renovators,” said BILD President and CEO Stephen Dupuis.
The name of the endowment is the Building Industry and Land Development (BILD) Association Scholarship. Every year for the next 10 years, BILD will contribute $10,000 toward the endowment, making the total gift $100,000.
The endowment already had close to $70,000 in it and has been providing student scholarships for the last 25 years due to the vision of long-time BILD member, Monarch. In the mid-1980s Monarch offered a couple of lots to George Brown College for applied learning purposes, following which the property was sold and the proceeds given to the College to create the scholarship fund.
Starting this year, the scholarships will be granted to students who enroll in one of the Centre for Construction and Engineering Technology programs. www.bildgta.ca.
