Phenomenal Public Response to Coats for Kids Campaign
GREATER VANCOUVER - The 16th annual Coats for Kids campaign, organized by the Greater Vancouver Home Builders’ Association (GVHBA), resulted in the collection of more than 4,000 winter coats, sweaters, scarves and mitts for needy children, teens and adults. Toys were also donated. Twenty-nine GVHBA-member companies allowed their premises to be used as drop-off sites at 45 locations in 13 municipalities from November 21 to December 9.
The clothing and toys will be distributed by the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau and various agencies throughout Metro Vancouver. Many of the adult-sized coats will be distributed through organizations that specifically reach out to homeless men and women.
“There was a phenomenal response to Coats for Kids again this year. We applaud our participating members and the men, women and children who contributed new and gently used winter apparel. The spirit of the season was definitely alive in the warm hearts of those generous individuals,” said GVHBA President and CEO Peter Simpson.
