First Occupational Designation in the Residential Construction Industry in Canada

CALGARY – The Professional Home Builders Institute of Alberta (PHBI) is proud to announce the launch of the Residential Construction Site Manager (RCSM) program, Canada’s first Occupational Designation for the residential construction industry.
In the fall of 2011, the Government of Alberta designated RCSM as an occupation under the Apprenticeship and Industry Training Act. This provincial certification is now available to anyone in the Alberta home building industry. A residential construction site manager plans, organizes, directs, controls and evaluates residential construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget. The occupation includes coordinating the work of many skilled tradespeople and suppliers.
The PHBI has taken learning styles into consideration and found that residential construction site managers tend to be visual learners. As a result the RCSM program is utilizing animation and 3D modeling to present learning materials in a way that best suits these learners.
