Proposed Changes To Concrete Requirements For Houses

OTTAWA — The CSA Technical Committee (TC), which is responsible for the standard governing the properties of concrete, has proposed a number of changes to the standard that would cause a substantial increase in the cost of concrete basements in houses. CHBA has submitted comments opposing the changes; changes that will do nothing to address the problems that apparently occur in some areas of the country. For those who may have missed the submission deadline on February 2, you can still have your voice heard by connecting with the CHBA team that plans to attend the TC meeting in May when the TC will consider comments received. For more information, contact Don Johnston, Senior Director, Technology & Policy, CHBA at johnston@chba.ca .
