Canada to Host World’s Top Passive House Experts
VANCOUVER —The Canadian Passive House Institute (CanPHI) announces a conference dedicated to cost-effective strategies for radically reducing building energy use in cool climates. PASSIVE HOUSE NORTH 2013: Affordable Energy Efficiency for a Changing Climate will convene September 27-28 at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver.
Buildings designed to the Passive House Standard use 90 per cent less energy than comparable structures, while costing only 10 per cent more to build. This baked-in affordability has made Passive House the world's fastest-growing high-performance building standard.
Large wooden structures, cold climate challenges, multi-family housing, prefab construction, high-performance window design, heat recovery ventilation and a consideration of the Passive House Standard as a pathway to Net Zero are among the topics to be presented.
Seating is limited. Pre-registration is open at www.passivehouse.ca/conference-2013.
