EnerQuality Celebrates the 10th Anniversary of ENERGY STAR for New Homes
TORONTO — 2015 marks the 10th anniversary of ENERGY STAR for New Homes (ESNH), the most successful green building program in Canada. Since the program launched in 2005, it has been at the centre of the residential construction industry's adoption of energy efficient building practices in Canada.
In 2014, 32% of all homes built in Ontario were ENERGY STAR qualified. More Ontario homes are being built as part of the program than ever before.
In recognition of this success, EnerQuality will celebrate the anniversary of ESNH at the Housing Innovation Forum and EQ Awards in Toronto on February 19th. The ceremony will look to recognize key innovators and influencers in the building community.
Foremost among those recognized will be Peter Gilgan, Founder and CEO of Mattamy Homes, who is the recipient of the 2014 EnerQuality Hall of Fame award. The prestigious award is presented annually to an individual who, over the course of his or her career, has made a lasting impact on energy efficiency and green building in the housing industry.
