Habitat for Humanity: Around the World in 80 days
Travelling from East to West, Habitat for Humanity Canada's Global Village program is building "Around the World in 80 days" to celebrate 10 years of serving families abroad. Since 2005, Habitat Canada's international efforts have supported tens of thousands of families to obtain simple, decent, affordable homes.
Over the last 10 years Habitat Canada's Global Village program has mobilized more than 13,000 volunteers who have contributed over half a million volunteer hours in 47 countries around the world. These selfless volunteers have not only given their time, but have also contributed more than 4 million dollars to support Habitat for Humanity Canada's international mission.
Starting in Prince Edward Island, teams of 12 - 20 volunteers will build homes over a span of 80 days in 14 locations (PEI, Guatemala, El Salvador, Trinidad, Chile, Poland, Portugal, Zambia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, Hawaii, Yukon & Slave Lake, Alberta) circling the globe and returning to Canada to wrap up and celebrate Habitat's volunteers and the work we do to provide homes to families in need.
Fourteen locations, 16 teams-each team building for 5 days in their designated location, for a total 80 days of consecutive building. During this time volunteers will work with a family to help them build a home, strengthen their community and enrich both their lives. Hand in hand we work together to eliminate poverty housing one house at a time.
If you have a sense of adventure, are in good health and willing to work hard, you can be part of "Around the World in 80 days" with Global Village Canada by joining a team, or even two! Volunteers do not need prior building experience.
