Newfoundland welcomes affordable housing
August 19, 2017
An official groundbreaking was held August 14 for a new affordable housing complex coming to rural Newfoundland, at a cost of about $125,000 per unit.
Once completed, the social-housing development will consist of 10 two-bedroom units designed to accommodate persons with complex needs.
The federal and provincial governments will contribute $1.25 million to New Life Christian Centre Inc., the local non-profit who will lead the development of this project.
The project will create 10 new units and include some fully-accessible units for those in wheelchairs or with other mobility issues, according to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp.
