Calgary builder awards $40,000 for public art
March 7, 2019
Calgary home builder Greenview Development is accepting artist applications for a public art piece near its AVLI on Atlantic condo project.
Applications are being accepted for works of 2-D or 3-D art from Alberta professional artists that will reflect and celebrate the central-city community of Inglewood. The winning application will be awarded up to $40,000 to bring their unique work of art to life.
“We seek to create a work of art not just for residents of Inglewood, but for all of Calgary to enjoy,” said Brian Kernick, president of Greenview Development.
Applications will be evaluated by an expert committee, which will narrow submissions down to three finalists. Finalists will be awarded $1,000 each to create a rendering or model of their project, which will be put on display for public feedback[2]. The committee will then review public feedback, and make their final decision.
The deadline for applications is March 11, 2019. For full details artists can visit http://avlicondos.ca/art
Homes at AVLI on Atlantic start in the low $300,000s. The majority of floor plans are custom and range in size from 545 square-feet to 2,200 square-feet. The project’s 65 units are currently 75 per cent sold, Kernick said.
