Big-town Saskatchewan sees 10-year sales high
September 26, 2022
Regina and Saskatoon were among the Saskatchewan cities—in addition to North Battleford, Meadow Lake, and Humboldt—posting the highest housing sales in 10 years during August 2022, according to the Saskatchewan Realtors’ Association (SRA).
“Supply remains a challenge in the market and while we are seeing some signs of improvement, the gains are in the upper end of the market and have not offset the declining supply of more affordable homes,” SRA CEO Chris Guérette said.
North Battleford is the only community where SRA noticed a decrease in price. The average cost for properties sold in 2022 is around $3,000 less than what those over the past 10 years averaged.
Every other community is seeing a sizeable increase. Those buying properties in Meadow Lake pay, on average, around $51,000 more than in 2002.
Saskatoon, which has the highest home prices in the province, had an average home price of $358,000 in August 2022—up 6.8 per cent from August 2021 according to the Canadian Real Estate Association.
