Centron Real Estate Development has broken ground on a massive 580-acre subdivision in Chestermere that will be developed into more than 3,500 homes for south central Alberta.
The Clearwater project will add approximately 10,650 new residents—a significant boost to the city of 23,000 that is considered one of the fastest growing cities in Canada. According to the latest census, the city is experiencing more than 7 per cent growth every year.
“Albertans are demanding communities like Clearwater, places that provide residential opportunities for singles, young and growing families, and seniors,” said Centron CEO Bob Harris.
The master-planned community by NORR, architecture and engineering planners, will create recreation, business and economic development, as well as residential opportunities for the city.
The project will include single-detached and multi-family housing for both home ownership and rentals. Builders include Calbridge, Cardel, Genesis, Akash Homes and Centron.
A seniors’ campus on a centrally located 11-acre site is also included in the mix, delivering seniors housing for the Chestermere, Rocky View County, and Calgary geographic areas.
Among the many amenities available for residents will be an 18,000-square-foot community clubhouse centre, an indoor pool and fitness facility, an outdoor sports court with multi-purpose ice rink and kids’ playground area, a plaza for private and public outdoor events, and fire pits along with gathering areas. Plans also include large water features and numerous walking paths.
The location is within a half-hour drive to Calgary’s downtown and just over 20 minutes to the Calgary International Airport.
Founded 38 years ago, Centron is a leading development and construction group in Western Canada.
